Taking Ontario Mobile - TOM
OCAD University, in collaboration with The Mobile Experience Innovation Centre, industry experts, and other Ontario universities, is leading the Taking Ontario Mobile (TOM) project. The purpose of the project is to look for and delineate opportunities for the province of Ontario to continue fostering and growing mobile services in Ontario.
The project will deliver:
A report summarizing and synthesizing the results of Taking Ontario Mobile for a general audience. The report will answer the following research questions:
How do Ontario residents imagine their needs (home, social, work) in ways that can be facilitated through a mobile world? What can we observe about residents' behaviors that can be facilitated through a Mobile Ontario? What actions must industry, and government and academia take to enable mobile residents?
The report will also:
- Provide a strategy to achieve a Mobile Ontario
- Analyze the requirements for Taking Ontario Mobile across identified important sectors: mLearning, mGovernment, mHealth, mFinance, mEntertainment
- Analyze the technology infrastructure needed to Take Ontario mobile
- Analyze and propose the collaborations needed to Take Ontario mobile by bridging these sectors and infrastructure requirements
- Analyze the social and economic benefits of Taking Ontario Mobile
- Propose mechanisms through which industry, government and academia can assist in building a Mobile Ontario
- Analyze the costs and provide business models for Taking Ontario Mobile
- Provide a road map and benchmarks for industry, academia and government to take Ontario Mobile
