SESSIONS:
The WP7 Boot Camp features two sessions to help MEIC members to get started developing apps for WP7:
Session 1: Windows Phone 7 Silverlight Recipes
If you’re building Windows Phone apps to help organize your life, capture your ideas, find out what’s going on around you, stay in touch with friends or gather the information you need, chances are you’ll be building them using Silverlight. We’ll show you how to build Silverlight apps that fetch data from web services, get the phone’s current location, display maps, organize applications into panoramas and data into pivots, make use of input and sensors and more. With these recipes under your belt, you’ll be writing apps that make the best use of Windows Phone 7 features in no time!
Session 2: Windows Phone 7 XNA Kickstart
Haven’t you always wanted to write a videogame, but could never get started? If you’d like to start writing games – the most popular mobile app category – for Windows Phone 7, you’re in luck! Windows Phone is the only smartphone with its own official game development framework, XNA, which not only lets you develop games for the phone, but for Xbox and Windows as well! You’ll learn the basics of XNA, get your feet wet writing 2D videogames, and give you what you need to start you on your journey as a game developer.
